This piece is (quite obviously!) an expression of horror at the power and viciousness of the media. I have sought to soften the message with humour, hence the chook's feet and preposterous posterior.
Construction:
The TV screen frame was made and a 6mm wire frame for the rest of the piece was built onto that. For the 'skin' of the biological part, corroded 2mm sheet steel sections were cut, shaped cold, welded together, and the welds ground and polished. Old wine barrel straps were used to build the body of the TV.
The spinning spiral is mounted on a small electric motor controlled by electronics in the power supply box. The mechanical/electrical parts are serviceable through a panel underneath.
